Pulham 1 Lucy 7th topped the female section of the 10th Designer Genes Sales, selling for £10,500 to Steve Smith, Welshpool. It was a tough decision to let this special girl go and we appreciated all the positive comments we received about her, fortunately parting was made easier by knowing she was going to such a great home.

Pulham 1 Olive 9th also went to a fantastic home, this time a little more local. Granger Harrison, Lakenheath, Suffolk purchased Olive for £4,305. Granger liked her dam when she was shown in 2024 and we are delighted that he bought her daughter.

Pulham 1 Starlet 11th National Poll Show Supreme Champion

We were so very proud to see Pulham 1 Starlet 11th win Supreme Champion at the 2025 National Poll Show.

A massive well done to Emma Hodge, Heather Whittaker and Andrew Hughes. We sold Starlet at the Designer Genes sale in 2022, where she was top priced female. We are now the first breeders to breed both a UK Horned and Poll National Supreme Champion.

Top scoring Hereford cow

It was a pleasure to have Meurig James visit the farm and Linear Score our cattle. Top of the tree was Pulham Blossom 23rd, scoring a new Hereford high score of 96 points, “Blossom” is sired by Haven Kermit and has the Badlingham Blossom and Sarabande Emma families on her maternal side.

We are so proud that over 90% of our 22 cows (3rd calvers or greater) were judged “Excellent”.

All 2nd calvers and 2 1st calvers were scored “Very Good” (the highest grade available for their age), with the remaining 5 1st calvers being “Good Plus”.

The experience was very informative and we shall be getting our remaining young cows, who are moving from Spring to Autumn calving, scored in the future when they are in milk.

We also had 3 stock bulls classified, Solitude 1 Vantastic, Pulham 1 Achilles and Gageboro Alfred who all score “Excellent”.

Grace wins under 18 prize in MEAHBA stock judging competition

Grace had her first ever go at stock judging at the Midlands and East Anglia stock judging evening at Pepperstock Herefords and was the under 18 year old winner.

Newland Gino arrives from Ireland

Say hello to our new junior horned bull – Newland Gino. Gino settled in nicely after arriving in England from Ireland, after having his semen collected for sales in Ireland. Gino had an amazing show season, we had the pleasure of seeing him at Tullamore Show where he was Supreme National Hereford Male Champion & Bull of the Year. We are delighted to have him at Pulham, he is one of most correct and promising young bulls we have seen for a long time. Thanks to Hugh P Murray and family for giving us the opportunity to buy him.

Achilles had a great show season which culminated in him winning the Midlands and East Anglia Hereford Breeders Association Summer Show points trophy.

It was an absolute pleasure to host visiting Danish Hereford Breeders at Pulham Herefords. Hazel did the business Whilst we were at lunch, Hazel did the business, popping out a beautiful heifer calf. Visitors always welcome.

Pulham 1 Olive 7th Native Interbreed Champion at Bucks Show

We had a extra special Bucks County show with Pulham 1 Olive 7th being our star performer, winning Native Interbreed Champion, Hereford Breed Champion and Female Champion. Pulham 1 Achilles wasn’t far behind winning Male Champion and Reserve Breed Champion. Pulham 1 Baratheon, on his first time out, won the September 2023 bull calf class. To top the day off we joined Spartan Herefords & Rempstone Livestock in the interbreed with Olive & Achilles and our group of four got tapped out as Reserve Champions.

Runners-up in MEAHBA Herd Competition

We were delighted to be runner-up best herd in this year’s Midlands and East Anglia Herd Competition and for Pulham 1 Olive 6th (full sister to the polled heifer we are currently showing) to be judged best cow (in fact she is only a heifer!) suckling a calf.
Congratulations to the Ludgate family and Joe Clark for winning overall and to all the prize winners, particularly the 1st and 2nd placed heifer calves, Benacre 1 Hazel 1st and Hickling Blossom 16th and the best bull calf, Hickling Barrichello, who all contain Pulham breeding.
Thank you to breed legend Clive Davies for judging, it was a pleasure to show him the Pulham herd and talk Herefords. It was also a pleasure to host the presentation event.
